Scope and Contents

This series features photographs of Pierce from childhood though her adult life. There are baby photos, pictures of debutante balls, graduation, and weddings. There are numerous photographs of family members, family reunions, and funerals as well as images of the family homestead, Kilmarnock, in Lancaster County, Virginia. There are photographs of classmates; friends, colleagues; and students. There are also photographs and slides of her travels abroad. Of note are the slides used in Dr. Pierce's multi-media presentation on "European Worship of Afrikan Madonnas: From Isis to Aunt Jemima."
