This series is primarily comprised of recordings of Walter Rodney lecturing at universities and conferences. There are also three recordings of Dr. Rodney in 1980 - a media interview, a WPA press conference, and his last public speech given at a WPA rally. In addition there are a few recordings from 1980 and 1981 of Patricia Rodney, Walter Rodney’s wife, and a few of his colleagues speaking at media interviews, press conferences, and commemoration events.

Abstract

Patricia Rodney gives a summary of her and Walter Rodney's experiences in Guyana from 1974-1980, and the political climate leading up to his assassination. Cultural presentations of poetry readings. Rupert Roopnaraine discusses the political, social and economic conditions of Guyana since the death of Walter Rodney; government trials against political activists including arson and the Donal Rodney trials; comments on the political conditions in the Carribean and South America.
