The Writings by Gloster is one of the largest series with speeches being the largest sub-series. This series includes materials related to Dr. Gloster’s books, correspondence, papers, plays, poems, and research materials. The speeches sub-series includes Dr. Gloster’s inauguration address, commencement addresses, convocation, special assemblies for Morehouse College and Spelman College students, citations, and tributes.

Dr. Gloster also delivered notable speeches titled, “My Year Behind the Iron Curtain,” “My Visit to South Africa,” and “Morehouse College During the Enrollment of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” He spoke on topics such as black colleges, black students, and education. Dr. Gloster delivered these speeches while at Hampton Institute, Morehouse College, and LeMoyne-Owen College. Of particular note, there are extensive notes on notable writers and authors in the research materials sub-series along with topics on negro poetry and Africa. The manuscript of Dr. Gloster’s book, Negro Voices In American Fiction, is contained in this series.
