This series contains materials related to organizations that Dr. Hugh Gloster was a member of or affiliated with during his life. Dr. Gloster was the founder and first president of the College Language Association (CLA), formerly known as The Association of Teachers of Language in Negro Colleges, which was founded in 1935. Dr. Gloster served on the board of Trustees for the Association for Higher Education, The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
