Series Description

From the Series:

Called the Women of Wisdom, the women featured in these oral histories chronicle their life experiences from childhood onward. Most of the women are long-time residents of Atlanta, Georgia having been born in Atlanta or relocated there. Some of the common subjects discussed in these interviews include education, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, careers, life in the Jim Crow South, the Civil Rights Movement, segregation and desegregation, politics, healthcare, and generational differences between the women and their student interviewers. Notably, Barack Obama and the 2008 United States Presidential Election is a common topic in interviews dated from 2007-2009. These oral histories are sorted by the semester in which they were conducted and listed in alphabetical order.
