StoryCorps Project, 2012
Scope and contents
The Hattimarie Parks Davis Papers span the years 1971 to 2013, with the bulk dating from 2011 to 2012, and primarily document her involvement with Friendship Baptist Church. Serving as chair of the Women’s Auxiliary Committee during the church’s Sesquicentennial Anniversary, Hattimarie helped lead the efforts to raise funds for the Reverend Frank Quarles Gravesite Restoration Project, honoring the church’s first pastor, and organized a “Shower for Selina,” in celebration of First Lady Selina Quarles. Materials include meeting minutes, reports, financial records, committee member lists, invoices, programs, brochures, flyers, and a roster of charter members, along with Hattimarie’s StoryCorps interview notes, a biographical sketch of her father, A. Walter Parks, and a small number of family photographs. Additional items document the Sesquicentennial Anniversary, including invitations, steering committee minutes, congratulatory letters, programs from the Anniversary Service and Gala, a church history, and general programs and newsletters.
