Scope and Contents

This series provides documentation about the maternal and paternal sides of Lemoine’s family. There is information about life on the family homestead Kilmarnock Farm in Lancaster County, Vir.; and materials related to Lemoine’s life growing up in Harlem, New York in the 1930’s. In addition there is information about Lemoine’s children, William and Leslie Pierce. The family correspondence documents three generations of the DeLeaver family. Noteworthy is the correspondence between Lemoine and her father, John, and correspondence with her aunt Dorothy DeLeaver Gibrilla; two influential figures in her life.

There is additional documentation about the family in Series I: Photographs and slides and Series K: Artifacts and oversized materials.
