Scope and contents

This collection contains documents related to slavery including bills of sale, lists of slaves belonging to various estates and correspondences between slave owners. Virginia and Georgia are represented as well as the estates of Richard Bayne, George Zuesenbury and Daniel Payne. Most of the documents were purchased individually by the Archives Research Center. Two of the documents were donated by Howard Dunlap.
