Historical note
The Clark Atlanta University Guild (CAU Guild) is an organization of women faculty, staff, and alumnae dedicated to raising awareness of Clark Atlanta University’s contributions to culture, community, and character in Atlanta, Georgia, and beyond. The Guild highlights the University’s impact through its art, music, theater, and film programs.
Founded in 1992 by Judge Brenda Hill Cole, then First Lady of Clark Atlanta University and wife of Dr. Thomas Winston Cole, Jr., who was serving as President of Clark Atlanta University at the time, the CAU Guild is committed to supporting students pursuing careers in Mass Media Arts, Film, Recording and Studio Arts, Visual and Performing Arts, Fashion, and Music by raising scholarship funds.
One of the Guild’s most influential fundraising initiatives is its annual Jazz Under the Stars concert, which has featured renowned jazz artists such as Gregory Porter, Lalah Hathaway, and Jeffrey Osborne. In addition to celebrating jazz excellence, the event also honors Atlanta’s most inspiring business leaders, community members, and artists.
