Scope and contents
The series includes handwritten lecture notes, minutes, correspondence, manuscripts, reports, registration and admission forms for summer school sessions.
The documents in the series portray thriteen plus years of Henderson's life at Fisk University where he served as Chairman and Professor of the Department of Economics and Business Administration. They record the additional roles he played as Director of the Institute on Economic Education and of the Summer Session (1958-1963). These records equally reflect the history of the leadership he gave as Director of both the Race Relations Deparment and the Phelps-Stokes Institute for Social Studies Teachers. In addition to institutional roles, the documents depict civic, social and politcally active memberships in the Nashville NAACP Branch, Nashville Community Conference on Empolyment Opportunity, Davidson County Independent Political Council and the Tennessee Voters' Council.
