Scope and Contents

This is the largest series and has nine subseries: Atlanta Anti-Tuberculosis Association, Atlanta Community Chest, Carrie Steel Orphanage, Commission on Interracial Cooperation, Gate City Free Kindergarden, Leonard Street Orphanage, National Association For the Advancement of Colored People, Urban League and the Young Women's Christian Association. The materials in this series show the diversity of the Neighborhood Union due to its relationship with each of the aformentioned organizartions. The organizations represent the various concerns of the Union ranging from child day care to civil rights. Of particular interest are the material in the Commission on Interracial Cooperation, especially those that relate to the formation of the formation of the Interracial Women's Committee and the Association of Southern Women for the Prevention of Lynching.
