The Commission on Race and Housing was an independent citizens' group formed in 1955 for the purpose of conducting studies regarding the problems of housing for racial and ethnic minority groups. Studies were conducted that examined housing conditions, the social and economic consequences of racial segregation, and the role of government and law in the housing issues. Wheeler was appointed to the Commission in 1956. The bulk of this sub-series contains research reports and studies along with a comprehensive report of the research findings by Davis MacEntire and correspondence to Wheeler.
