Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Dr. Lincoln served as a consultant to several private research foundations and organizations. As the leading scholar of Black Religion, he lent his expertise to foundations that funded proposals in such areas as the Black Church and Religion. This series contains hundreds of documents which offer a picture of Dr. Lincoln's involvement with them, not only as a consultant, but as a recipient of funds for his own research proposals. Included in these records are reports to the Eli Lilly Foundation which funded his massive research into the Black Church in America, including the initial proposal. These documents offer an insight as to the direction the research was taking throughout the project and to some of the early conclusions brought to Dr. Lincoln as a result of his efforts. Other records include expense accounts and travel records accumulated during conusltant meetings and field research.
