Papers relating to Penn's time as a military chaplain in WWII, 1945-1946
Scope and Contents
This series contains biographical information, collected memorabilia, and coursework from when Robert Penn was a student at various seminaries. Of note are hundreds of handwritten sermons and speeches by Penn, where he talks about the moral responsibilities of the church as well as traditional sermons and services. In addition are correspondence between Penn and members of the chuch discussing business and friendship- of note are Penn's papers and correspondence during his time as military chaplain during WWII, and his emphatic writings to the Army to gain equal status and treatment for Negro ministers.
