Crozer Theological Seminary, 1941-1951

 Sub-Series
Identifier: Subseries 5.2

Subseries Description

The subseries contains papers from King’s theological coursework, bibliographic resources, records about the seminary, and other documents related to this stage of his education. Class notes, essays, sermon outlines, exam questions, and reports discuss several topics including worship, public service, the Old Testament, theology, ministry, philosophy, Christianity, science, esthetics, and ethics. One of his classes, the Problems of Esthetics, was taken at University of Pennsylvania. Along with these manuscripts are pamphlets, bibliographies, and other items presumably used in his classes on Public Worship, the Ministers Use of Radio, and Christian Theology. As a student, King appears to have used the Filco Memory-O-Matic system, Filco Reference Library, a filing system for illustrations, and lists of books selected by Bucknell Librarian Edward C. Starr to conduct research and organize citations. The subseries also has his transcript of record, comprehensive examinations instructions, a brochure about the seminary, an order of service for the student chapel, and volume 42, number 3 of The Bulletin. In addition, there are King’s Graduate Record Exam scores, an announcement for pulpit robes, and religious book club order forms.
