Scope and Contents
The Memorabilia series consists of the artifacts and memorabilia of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, SCLC/W.O.M.E.N., personal artifacts of Joseph E. and Evelyn G. Lowery, as well as objects relating to other organizations, initiatives, and events. The series is comprised of materials related to SCLC’s National Convention such as pens, buttons, ribbons, bumper stickers, banners, buttons, and conference swag gifts. Of particular interest is a replica of the Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded to Lowery in 2009 by President Barak Obama. Briefcases, other awards, and family ephemera are also included.
