Scope and contents

The Production Series is the largest series in the collection, featuring numerous plays, Broadway shows, and video productions either directed, performed, or written by Aku. The bulk of the materials in this series comprise Aku's work in various locations, including Australia, New York, Korea, and Detroit. Within this series, an assortment of items can be found such as programs, news clippings, news releases, scripts, notebooks, invitations, brochures, playbills, and magazine articles.

Among the plays performed by Aku that are included in this series are Sphere of Influence, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When The Rainbow Is Enuf by Ntozake Shange, and Frenzy, which was both written and performed by Aku. Additionally, the series contains plays directed by Aku, including Ochre & Dust, Singing for That Country, and Iphis.

This series also contains materials from Aku's tenure as faculty at Yongin University in Korea, where she taught acting, movement, and dance, as well as at Wayne State University in Detroit, where she served as the Director of the Black Theatre program from 2006 to 2011. The materials in this section include news articles, programs, ticket stubs, and brochures. Some of the notable productions featured are Hope, OTL, Twelve Singing Animals, and Who's Tommy.
