Scope and Contents
This sub-series contains oral histories from residents of Newtown, a Black community located within Gainesville, GA. The oral histories extensively discuss racism, environmental racism, and the effects of pollution upon the area’s residents. Interviews of note include the oral history of Faye Bush who discusses her work with the Florist Club who fought against environmental racism and her request for President Barack Obama to visit the community.
