The majority of the photographs in this series illustrate Wayman Carver’s music career as a jazz musician and college band director. There are photographs of jazz bands, musicians, and entertainers. Many are autographed and include Chick Webb, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Carter, Peg Leg Bates, and the Nicholas Brothers. There are photographs of Clark College bands and a few of Prairie View College All Girls Orchestra. Of interest are the photographs of Carver’s college days at Clark University and Vander Cook College of Music. Also there are a few snapshots of Carver’s family members, including his mother, father, wife, and daughter.
