Atlanta City Council, 1974-1989
Scope note
This small series documents Ware’s political career on the Atlanta City Council. Included in this series are correspondence, office files of council members and some departmental files. Although Ware was elected to the Atlanta City Council in 1973, the correspondence only documents his years as President of the Atlanta City Council from 1977-1979. Ware received correspondence from business groups, community organizations, Department of Community and Human Development, the Latin American Association, Council Members and from Mayor Maynard Jackson. Some correspondences reflect concerns from members of the community regarding ordinances, resolutions, proposals for development projects, issues on energy conservation, city contracts, and legislation. There are also office file folders from other City Council members: James Bond, Mary Davis, Morris Finley, Buddy Fowlkes, Richard Guthman, James Howard, Ira Jackson, Arthur Langford, Debby McCarty, John Sweet, and Carl Ware.
