Homage to Hale Woodruff , Waddell Gallery, Atlanta University, 1981 April - May 7
Scope and contents
This series contains a few letters and programs related to Hale Woodruff that were stored with the Stoelting research materials, but are not a part of that donation. There are a few pieces of correspondence written by Hale Woodruff to Alain Locke and Richard Long and about Hale Woodruff from Walter White and Mary Schmidt Campbell. Also there are a couple of letters of Theresa Woodruff written to Atlanta University in appreciation of the program honoring Hale Woodruff in 1981. There are also photocopies of letters written by Hale Woodruff to Mrs. Millicent Dobbs Jordan in reference to a commissioned work, Cinque Exhorts his Captives. In addition to the letters there are copies of brochures of the mural The Negro in Art and the program, In Memory of Hale Aspacio Woodruff (1900-1980) and the accompanying exhibit Homage to Hale Woodruff, held at Atlanta University in 1981.
