Scope note
The Correspondence series documents both her professional career and personal life, primarily between the years of 1970-1980. The professional correspondence includes materials from organizations and individuals inviting her to speak or attend conferences as well as various library schools requesting her assistance in filling library positions with the students from the library school. Among the correspondence are letters from various Atlanta University Presidents inviting her to join the faculty and regarding other personnel matters. Of particular note, there is a request from Mary McLeod Bethune for a biographical sketch to include in a roster of women qualified in specialized fields for the National Council of Negro Women.
The personal correspondence includes many love letters from her husband, E.A., while he is traveling out of the country and two letters to her mother, Ellen Lacy, while traveling with E.A. to Italy and London. Congratulatory letters regarding her retirement and contributions to the field of librarianship are also contained in this series. Lastly, there are numerous greeting cards from family and friends.
