Scope note

From the Series:

The subseries of Writings by Virginia Lacy Jones, Speeches by Virginia Lacy Jones, Writings by Others, and Unknown Writings comprise the Writings series. This series contains both published and unpublished library related articles as well as a few speeches that she made during various speaking engagements. Many of the articles written about librarianship focused on the inequalities and problems that African Americans faced in the profession. In June of 1973, the "Library Journal" published the article that Jones wrote in memory of Arna Bontemps after his passing (b.1902-d.1973). She also wrote a book review on the "Handbook of Black Librarianship", 1st edition, by Dr. E. J. Josey.
