Historical note
The CAU Guild is an organization of women members of Clark Atlanta University’s faculty, staff, and alumni formed to raise awareness of Clark Atlanta University’s contribution of culture, community, and character to Atlanta, Georgia and the world through Clark Atlanta University’s art, music, theater, and film programs. The CAU Guild was founded in 1992 by the first lady of Clark Atlanta University, Judge Brenda Hill Cole, the wife of Dr. Thomas Winston Cole, Jr., President Emeritus of Clark Atlanta University. The CAU Guild’s mission is to raise scholarship funds for Clark Atlanta University students majoring or pursuing a career in Mass Media Arts, Film, Recording and Studio Arts, Visual and Performing Arts, Fashion, and Music. One of the CAU Guild’s most influential fundraising events is its annual “Jazz Under the Stars” concert, featuring many of jazz’s most infamous artists such as Gregory Porter, Lalah Hathaway, Jeffrey Osborne, amongst others. In addition to jazz artists, the CAU Guild also pays homage to Atlanta’s most inspiring business leaders, community members, and artists.
