Scope and contents

This collection contains book drafts and notes for four of Milton J. Davis' books. All four titles are in the genre of Speculative fiction and "Soul and Sword" which is epic fantasy based on precolonial African culture, traditions, and history. His drafts are typed and include marginalia with his own editing suggestions. There is an excerpt written by Charles R. Sanders included in the “Changa” Series. Correspondence about “Amber” is also included. His notes are handwritten. Illustrations for a few titles can be found in this collection.

Biographical note

Milton J. Davis is an African American writer, editor, and publisher. He is the founder and owner of MVmedia, LLC, a publishing company that specializes in speculative fiction, particularly in the genres of Sword & Soul and fantasy, which portray the African diaspora, culture, history, and traditions in a positive light.

Davis started out as an avid reader of history before he began his own writing career in 2005. It was an encouraging college professor who first inspired him to start writing. As an independent author, Davis has since published 21 novels and short story collections.

In addition to his own prolific output, Davis has also contributed as a writer to the anthology "Black Panther: Tales of Wakanda" and co-authored the book "Hadithi, State of Speculative Fiction." His work has been recognized with honors such as the 2014 Urban Action Showcase Award for Best Script for a screenplay.

Davis also authored the two-volume anthology series "Visions" and the novel "Black Rose," further expanding his body of work within the Sword & Soul and fantasy genres that are the focus of his publishing company MVmedia.
