This series contains photographs of events sponsored and held at Atlanta University such as Commencement, Baccalaureate, Convocation, Art Exhibits (Art Annual), Alumni Banquets, Charter Day, Summer Theatre, and President’s Receptions. Other events include special ceremonies such as the John Hope Lecture Series, the Dedication of Trevor Arnett Library, the Memorial Service for Whitney Young, and visits to Atlanta University from Eleanor Roosevelt. Photographs of conferences for groups such as the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, and receptions for Trustees are also contained among this material. The individuals photographed in this series include Ralph Abernathy Jr., Ivan Allen Jr., Mary McLeod Bethune, W.E.B. Dubois, William Hastie, Martin Luther King Sr., Eleanor Roosevelt, Walter White, Roy Wilkins, Andrew Young, and Whitney Young. There are Also photographs of Rufus Clement, Benjamin Mays, Florence Read, Benjamin Brawley, Harry V. Richardson, and other former Presidents of Atlanta University Center schools.
