The Georgia Teachers and Education Association's collection offers a detailed account of the association's work from 1930 to 1960. It includes various materials like meeting records, memorabilia, conference notes, programs, newspapers, correspondence, and more. A notable part of the collection is "The Herald", an annual journal showcasing the association's statewide initiatives. In April 1958, the association convened for its 40th Annual State Convention at Ballard-Hudson High School in Columbus, GA. The primary focus of this gathering was to discuss the implementation of a proposed and expanded school evaluation program. Through effective collaboration with the State Department of Education, the association established new committees and devised innovative solutions for challenging educational issues. Together, they embarked on various educational initiatives, striving to enhance the quality of education through the introduction of groundbreaking programs.
