Beginning in the late 1960s, The Catalyst has served as a student literary journal published by the Morehouse College Department of English. This publication showcases poems, essays, short stories, and artwork primarily created by students of Morehouse College and the Atlanta University Center.

The Maurice Pennington political cartoon collection contains sketches of his political cartoons drawn for the Atlanta Inquirer, some original artwork, articles and programs from exhibitions. Most of the works were created during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s.

Scope and contents The Racially Motivated Random Violence Papers spans the dates 1946-1987, with the bulk of the material dated from 1980-1983. The collection contains correspondence from people who wanted to receive copies of the publications such as American singer/songwriter Pete Seeger, committee records such as the affilated writing or communcation organization like the Southern Collective of African Americans Writers.
