Presidential records contain files produced during the tenures of the following presidents: Mrs. Rufus E. Clement (1948-1950), Hallie B. Brooks (1950-1952), Virginia Jones Lacy (1953-1954), Lynette Saine (circa 1961-1964), Annette L. Phinazee (circa 1964-1968), Jean Conyers (1967-1968), and Marie K. Vernon (circa 1968-1970). The folders are arranged in chronological order by each president.

President Mrs. Rufus E. Clement Administrative files include correspondence to club members regarding the first meeting of the Atlanta University Women’s Club and three report booklets that contain meeting notes, lists of members, and membership dues.

Hallie B. Brooks Administrative files include the Atlanta University Women’s Club constitution and bylaws drafts, project committee meeting memos, meeting minutes, handwritten notes, President’s reports, correspondences regarding events such as Spelman President Florence M. Read as a guest speaker at a meeting, the annual Bridge Tournament, the Atlanta University Women’s Club feedback questionnaires, and an invitation to The Danish National Orchestra event, “Musica Vitalis Kvarttetten” Denmark and Atlanta University.

Virginia Jones Lacy Administrative files include correspondence, memos, and meeting notes to AUWC members regarding the first Atlanta University Women’s Club regarding membership and events, such as the Annual Bridge-Whist tournament.

Lynette Saine Administrative files include correspondence to members regarding membership, reports, and events such as the Atlanta University Center’s Trustees Reception, a Centennial Gift, annual parties, the Valentines Day party, Centennial plans, and the annual Bridge Tournament.

Annette L. Phinazee Administrative files include the Atlanta University Women’s Club Constitution and ByLaws, event reports, handwritten meeting notes, and membership questionnaire/survey reports. Files also include correspondence regarding Atlanta University Centennial commemorative plates, and events such as the Atlanta University Trustees reception, Atlanta University Women’s Club picnic. Of special note, are the correspondence between Mrs. Rufus Clement, the first president of AUWC and Dr. Annette H. Phinazee regarding the Atlanta University Women’s Club reports, the annual bridge tournament, and the Centennial plates. Also of special mention is Dr. Annette H. Phinazee’s resignation letter as President of Atlanta University Women’s Club, Antoinette R. Frederick resignation letter as Corresponding Secretary of the Atlanta University Women’s Club, and “The Atlanta University of Higher Education” booklet.

Jean Conyers Administrative files include correspondence regarding Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College’s Board of Trustees reception, Mrs. Rufus E. Clement’s farewell dinner at The BirdCage, the Commonwealth school, and the Atlanta University Women’s Club picnic.

Marie K. Vernon Administrative files include meeting minutes, membership dues, membership feedback forms/questionnaires, and event surveys. Of special note, is correspondence between President Vernon and Corretta Scott King regarding being a special guest speaker at the annual Fall Luncheon and correspondences between President Vernon and Christine K. Ferris regarding being a special guest at the “Ladies Night of the Town” meeting.
