The series is comprised of personal and professional correspondence to and from Dr. Brailsford Brazeal, ranging from 1938-1980, as well as correspondence of A. Philip Randolph collected by Dr. Brazeal during his research on the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters.

Personal correspondence to Dr. Brazeal includes letters from family and friends, close colleagues, publishers, civil rights and labor organizations, as well as speaking requests from churches and secondary schools. Of particular note are letters from publishers regarding his manuscript "The Life of A. Philip Randolph," and his book "Brotherhood of the Sleeping Car Porters: It’s Origin and Development". The professional correspondence includes letters from educational associations, letters related to his work as Academic Dean and head of the Department of Economics and Business Administration at Morehouse College and colleagues in economics from other colleges and universities. There are also a few folders consisting of letters written by Dr. Brazeal to colleagues, publishers, as well as form letters to staff and students while he was Academic Dean and head of the Department of Economics and Business Administration.

Dr. Brazeal also collected original correspondence from the office of A. Philip Randolph in his position as President of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters. This correspondence ranges from 1919 to 1937 and touches on many subjects, including membership and subscriptions to "The Messenger"; the actions of local chapters of the Brotherhood and Ladies Auxiliary; events of the Brotherhood; and national protests.

This series also contains correspondence from notable figures such as A. Philip Randolph, Benjamin E. Mays, Dr. Hugh Gloster, Hale Woodruff, Richard Long, and Dr. E.A. Jones. Of particular note in the professional correspondence, is a letter from Dr. L.M. Tobin to the faculty regarding a petition to re-instate Charlene Hunter and Hamilton Holmes as students at the University of Georgia.
