Scope and contents

From the Series:

This series contains Dr. Brailsford Reese Brazeal’s writings that examine issues of labor and employment, discrimination in the work force, American economics, race relations, and voting. He is especially noted for his research on the Pullman porters, and he published "The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters" in 1946. This series is comprised of a significant number of Dr. Brazeal’s published and unpublished writings, including his unpublished manuscript, "Negro Employment: Fair and Unfair." This series also contains his speeches, lectures, articles, and handwritten and typescript drafts of chapters of his publications.

Some folders contain full text, and others are outlines, notes, note cards, drafts, bibliographies, and citations. Other folders, which are labeled “Notes, Drafts, and Research Materials,” contain partial and incomplete documents in which no specific titled writing could be identified. These particular folders include various pages that may belong to a number of writings, and most of the documents are draft typescripts with handwritten edits or handwritten drafts by Dr. Brazeal.
