Scope and contents
Ivie Jackman and the Harold Jackman Memorial Committee decided to record their rememberences of the Harlem Renaissance and the people associated with the period. The interviews also recorded how the artists felt about their own works or works done by others. Some notable interviewees were: Ivie Jackman, Ossie Davis, Owen Dodson, Robert Earl Jones, Rosetta LeNoire, Butterfly McQueen and Charles Sebree. Besides these interviews there are recordings of special events, such as: The Phillis Wheatley Festival, the National Conference of Afro American Writers, and the Rally for the Montgomery 20th Anniversary. There are also political recordings such as those by Rev. Jesse Jackson and Andrew Young.
