Included materials involve an evaluation of Arkansas Baptist College and Selma University, along with feedback from the UNCF Membership and Visitation Committee.

Proposals contain "A Request to the Lily Endowment for a Grant to Study the Role of Churches in the Development and Preservation of Private Black Colleges and Universities." The survey was to compile data on HBCUs to aid in regulating and normalizing roles across campuses.

The University Center in Georgia, now known as the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education (ARCHE), is a council of 20 public and private institutions of higher learning in the greater Atlanta region. Costen served on the Board of Trustees.
